Kristina is a management consultant with 30 years’ experience in strategic consultancy. She has undertaken market studies and feasibility studies in heavy industries, infrastructure, telecoms, building materials, machine tools and new materials; valuations of investments in fixed telecoms assets and radio spectrum licences; due diligence on investments in tourism, water utilities and manufacturing facilities. Kristina established the telecommunications practice of Atkins Management Consultants and led the UK’s third radio spectrum auction. She holds an MBA and a PhD from the University of Lancaster. Her Doctoral research was in the modelling of the evolution of industrial networks and the emergence of clusters. She assists clients in long term planning and economic development based on industrial clusters as a main driver of economic growth and employment generation.
George has 45 years’ experience in applying numerical modelling and simulations in a wide range of applications: from real time offshore simulators to solving problems in the natural environment using 1D, 2D and 3D modelling systems. He has developed models and undertaken audits of models of coastal, estuarine and fluvial water quality for the Scottish, Northern Ireland and English Environmental Regulators. His current principal focus is in the area of heat dissipation from outfalls of all sizes and assessing the feasibility of using water bodies for heat sinks to enhance use of renewable energy resources. He has developed a very detailed modelling system for fluvial thermal profiles. George headed the Hydrodynamic Modelling Team at Atkins for over 20 years. He holds a degree in Civil and Systems Engineering and a Master of Engineering Science by Research from James Cook University, North Queensland, and is a Member of the British Computing Society.
Phil is a steel and aluminium sector specialist with over 40 years’ experience in the area of ferrous metals and metal processing industries. He has hands-on operational and management experience as well as extensive consultancy record across most technologies used in the steel and aluminium industry. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor at the Department of Engineering of the University of Surrey, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals. He has led numerous due diligence assignments, feasibility studies, process design, project management and lender’s technical advisory assignments across the full spectrum of metal production and processing facilities around the globe.
Mike is a specialist in the operation and process design of pyrometallurgical plant (non-ferrous metals and industrial minerals) and the associated mineral processing and refining operations. He had 20 years’ operational experience in copper, lead and zinc production in Zambia and Australia followed by 19 years in engineering design at Aker Kvaerner. His particular expertise is in copper, lead and zinc smelter operations. He has acted as technical adviser on numerous feasibility studies, due diligence assignments and modernisation projects worldwide for industrial facilities, lenders and development banks. He is a Chartered Engineer, holds an MA (Cantab) in metallurgy and is a Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
Kevin has 20 years’ experience in the cement industry covering over 50 cement plants across 30 countries. He has led numerous technical and economic feasibility studies of cement plants, assignments combining the improvement and upgrades of existing facilities, the establishment of greenfield facilities and plant performance improvement in Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, UK, USA, Canada, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Kenya, UAE, Iraq, Philippines and Mongolia. He was the cement industry specialist advisor for 3 years for the EBRD and other syndicated banks, providing independent cement industry guidance for a range of projects in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Croatia, Russia, Serbia and Mongolia. He holds a B.Eng. (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc in Production Management and an MBA.
John is a management consultant and institutional specialist with over 40 years’ global experience in the private and public sector. John has led and carried out assignments in many parts of the world including Arica, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe and the Far East in a range of sectors: metals, mining, highways, transportation, food, oil and gas and construction for major clients including owners, operators and funding agencies. John spent four years on assignments for Shell in Brunei, was in-country representative for Mittal Steel for its first acquisition of independent iron ore rights, interim general director of a steel plant in Georgia and, more recently, the institutional adviser on a major ports expansion and organisational restructuring project in Saudi Arabia. John holds a BSc in chemistry, MBA from Henley Management College, a Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management and is a member of the Chartered Institutes for Personnel Management, Chemistry and Management.
Building on her background as a process control engineer, Fei has developed highly effective, innovative modelling techniques including risk-based discounted cash flow financial models and dashboard reporting tools supporting project management, planning and control. She has undertaken financial and risk modelling for many projects in the construction sector, transport infrastructure and process industries and developed database tools in support of management decisions and their implementation in day-to-day operations. She has developed risk assessment models for McLaren Automotive Technology Centre, Channel Tunnel Rail Link, A3 Hindhead Tunnel feasibility; Kings Cross Station Re-modelling; Lisbon North-South Rail Link, the Dockland Light Railway and a number of nuclear decommissioning assignments.
Beata holds a Master’s degree in Economics and an MBA. She is an experienced business analyst and modeller, specialising in cash flow modelling, due diligence, feasibility studies, project appraisals and development of business plans with over 20 years’ consultancy experience. Her work spans a number of heavy industries: steel, cement, copper smelters, as well as building materials and machine tools manufacture. She has analysed companies’ operations, built or reviewed their business and financial models and modelled a variety of scenarios to assess their financial implications for the business. She has advised on the privatisation of water utilities, district heating and road management operations in several countries in Eastern Europe.
